[edit]Please help to find the birth date of Basava Premanand or at least the year. Note that the Indian way the calculate the age of a person is one year added to the western age e.g. when a person is born in India s/he is already one year old. Andries
Editing by the anonymous user
[edit]Editing by any anonymous user should be discouraged. More over, if any user feels to delete information and images from any wikipedia pages, the user should give the reason for such a deletion. This has not happened in the editing done by the anonymous user with the USERID 221.134.**.***. Hence the page has been reverted to an earlier and better version. The justifiable changes made by the users aniket ray and prabhir gosh are then incorparted. Skollur
Photograph of B. Premanand
[edit]I recently had a chance to know Mr. Premanand closely in person after he came to Bangalore in January 2007 to undergo an operation. I met him in January 2007 at his sister's residence where he was recuperating after a operation.
The photograph I have uploaded today was taken on 12 May 2007 during my third visit to his residence. Though the photo is not of a good quality, it would suit our purpose (now that there is no image of Premanand in this wikipedia page) until a better photograph is uploaded by some other wikipedia user. Negative website link to be removed
[edit]The link to the overwhelmingly anti-Premanand website saisathyasai.com is removed. An article must adhere to the policy on biographies of living persons. Controversial material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libelous. If such material is repeatedly inserted or if there are other concerns relative to this policy, report it on the living persons biographies noticeboard. ProEdits 08:24, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Copyright concerns
[edit]This article was tagged for copyright concerns and listed for evaluation at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2008 December 28. Evidence suggests Wikipedia is the publisher of first instance. The earliest archive of the identified source, here, dates to July of 2007. See [1]. The material in our article is considerably older than that. To further support this conclusion, also see the evolution of the article, which suggests the material developed here naturaly. Here in 2004 we already have the text "He is an amateur magician and used these skills to give a natural explanation of the ‘’miracles’’ of gurus and god men. His most frequent and famous target is the Indian gurus Sathya Sai Baba whom he tried to litigate." This gradually altered to "Originally an amateur magician and uses these skills in an attempt to give a natural explanation of the alleged miracles of gurus and godmen. Since 1976 his most famous target is Sathya Sai Baba." in February of 2007. Information on the BBC enters in 2005, here, as "The BBC desribed him as India's leading guru buster." That sentence was added on to several months later by a different editor to reach the state of "Desribed by BBC as India's leading guru buster,Premanand has been honoured by the government with its highest award for the promotion of scientific values among the public.(The Telegraph, Calcutta: Sunday, November 21, 2004)|" Thanks to the tagger for noting these concerns, as it is always a good idea to investigate, but it seems likely that in this case the infringement is reversed. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:55, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Can somebody who knows put his name in Deonagari/ Indian Script. I am confused about the name because "Basava" can be pronounced in more than one ways. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.195.105.238 (talk) 06:22, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
