One day, an Ameer was riding past a poor man's hut. He saw the man standing outside his hut, when his horse tumbled down and the Ameer fell off his mount. He got extremely annoyed with the poor man, and shouted at him: "I saw your face and fell off. Your face has brought me ill luck! You should be hanged!"

The poor man trembled. With folded hands he pleaded: "You saw my face and you suffered a fall. But, look at my fate! By seeing your face , I'm going to die! This doesn't augur well for your majesty, who is our saviour and benefactor."

Without a word, the Ameer mounted his horse. He broke into a smile and said: "Have a good day, clever chap!" and he rode away.
