This is English wikipedia. Please stop moving Czech Republic articles.

Why are you moving Czech Republic articles? countires are listed under their common English Language forms, as defined by the UN [1] Mintguy 16:48 17 May 2003 (UTC)

Czech Republic is the standard English name. Either set up redirects to the standard forms, or put Czechia articles on the appropriate language Wikipedia. jimfbleak 16:51 17 May 2003 (UTC)

The point I was trying to make is that the vast majority of English speakers would have looked for Czechoslovakia when that was the country, and the Czech Republic now. I'm quite well-read, and I've never come across Czechia before. Although you may prefer the latter, you must appreciate that the the most logical pattern is to have by far the best-known name as the lead article, and the alternatives as redirects. I can appreciate that there are situations where it is 50/50, for example when American English and British English have different words, but I don't think that this falls into that category.
If you feel that these reverts from Czechia should not be happening, raise it on the Village Pump page. jimfbleak 19:29 17 May 2003 (UTC)
Hi Empetl, welcome to Wikipedia. If you feel strongly about the Czechia issue then you should take it to the Village pump, I read the links that you put on (I think) Mintguy's talk page and it seems like a pretty reasonable argument. There are a lot of people here who like to do things "properly". If you can convince them that changing to Czechia would be the proper thing to do and the most sensible thing to do then there's a good chance of change. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
