Twrist dropped into the world in the charming city of Lincoln. He studied at the Beauchamp College, then spent a few years ambling around Lampeter in Ceredigion where he completed a degree in Religious Studies at the University of Wales, Lampeter. After a brief stint in Aberystwyth he moved to Edinburgh, where he worked in the Civil Service whilst studying for a master's degree in Environmental Policy from the Open University. He went on to study for a Professional Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Edinburgh, before becoming a teacher for the City of Edinburgh Council

Twrist is a (fairly) committed Scottish Green Party, Co-operative Group and Amnesty International member, but believes very firmly that wikipedia should avoid all political bias, and attempts to maintain a NPOV stance in all that he does on the project. He sometimes fails, and genuinely wants you to point it out when he does.

He also sings and plays the viola if he thinks no-one can hear him, and believes that writing about oneself in the third person is sickeningly pretentious. He is also pink (if you ask nicely).
