Great! You know, I have a lot more faith in the baptism than the tombstone, so I've changed the year up top from 1663 to 1671. It's inherently more likely (somebody couold have just been reporting inaccurate gossip about what age she died), and it fits better with the time she joined the company; and with her playing feisty young breeches part girls in the 1690s; and most of all, with the "little girl" reference (though I know that's a little circular, as it didn't necessarily refer to her at all). That's so cool, that you have primary information. Where is it from, the DNB? I think that's the one I didn't check (don't have access to it). Thank you very much! --Bishonen | talk 20:42, 1 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Welcome boilerplate

[edit]

Eyebee 00:06, May 3, 2005 (UTC) Thank you for the welcome. I am new to wikis in general, although I love the idea. I'm a web designer, so have no problem with internet concepts and usage. One downside of being a web designer, is that sometimes I just want to get away from the screen and do something else, so I don't have as much time to get into the finer points of some things as much as I would like to.

Thanks for cleaning up my user page

[edit]

Hello. Thanks for cleaning up my user page after it was vandalised. I think it is almost funny that I was vandalised just because I reverted the last vandalism from that IP address. Oh well. -- JamesTeterenko 20:00, 4 May 2005 (UTC).[reply]

I see you are considering blocking User:128.113.201.75. You might want to note that this is a sock puppet of User:Charonite (or vice versa), as confirmed on User Talk:Charonite. --Macrakis 20:47, 4 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Friendly Chat

[edit]

How are you my friend? I saw the edits that you made to my article Military History of Puerto Rico and I would like to thank you. I see that you are interested in military history. Tell me, what did you think of my article? Tony the Marine

You're welcome

I suspect that this vandal is the same person that vandalized both of our pages two days ago. -- JamesTeterenko 19:32, 6 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

First and only choice (style usage)

[edit]

While I voted the same way you did as a first choice in the style usage vote, I believe you would be better off expressing a preference among the other alternatives as well. Specifically, under Condorcet tallying, all unranked choices are treated equally. So if you feel--as I do--that Alternative 3 is less objectionable than is Alternative 1 or 2, a vote indicating that would help form a stronger consensus. Hello my friend. I have self-nominated the article mentioned above (I remember that you helped me by fixing some things) for Featured article status. Please take a look here:Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates#Military_history_of_Puerto_Rico, you can vote and or express your opinon. Thank you, Tony the Marine

Thanks

All that work to get the template set up, and then I go and forget to add it to all the articles. Still getting back into the swing of things, I guess. --Michael Snow 19:03, 23 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You For Your Support

Because of Wikipedians like yourself, this article was able to make featured article status. It was my goal to celebrate my first year in Wikipedia with a featured article and you all made it possible. Thank you once again Tony the Marine

hallo Rje - my students exercised as oceanographers, taking code from my space preparing for a German demonstration project on virtual university, the idea of Erik Moeller (user:eloquence) of the Wikiversity for online e-teaching and e-research and I offered my cooperation as teacher and my interactive virtual microscope for a course in Meeresbiologie and Biologie der Antarktis - for that project it is important to have reproducible credentials for the teachers. We also plan to move educational content from expensive university servers to the free project (in Germany we don't even have tuition in the University) - help us - or not - I really don't care if I am sysop or not, I have that all behind me - we try to help the NeXT generation - best greetings to England Uwe Kils PS we are searching for cooperators with real names 68.46.71.104 17:43, 27 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FAC

[edit]

Please comment at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Starfleet ranks and insignia. I'm particularly worried that the article goes into more detail than almost all readers would be interested in reading (not going into so much detail is a FAC criteria). Thus longer sections should be summarized and the detail spun off into daughter articles, allowing readers to zoom to that level of detail if they so choose. --mav 16:22, 30 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Field of Dreams trivia

[edit]

Would you rather I just put in a "spoiler" and tell the joke? Or would it be too specific and/or too trivial? Wahkeenah 16:43, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I added back the joke, without the Point Of View. The trivia point was about the "Clean Shaven Umpire", whose one notable line in the movie is that joke. The readers can judge whether it is funny or not. We report, they decide. >:) Wahkeenah 06:35, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Vandal Rovoam

[edit]

Hi Rje,

First, I want to thank you for joining into common struggle against Rovoam, who definitely and without exagerration is the most obsessive and persistent vandal in the history of Wikipedia.

I am regularly putting disclaimers on all his known anon IPs. In fact, because of his vandalism my whole activity in Wikipedia has been virtually reduced to putting these disclaimers.

In User_talk:65.138.140.181 when I was going to put a regular disclaimer on this person, I noticed your comments: "Rovoam, could you please stop adding your pro-Azeri point of view to articles". You are mistaken, Rovoam is not "pro-Azeri" and in fact all he did and is doing is directed AGAINST Azeris, Azerbaijan and myself personally. Rovoam represents an extreme example of a fanatical nationalist. I intentionally did not mention that he is an *Armenian* nationalist, because I did not want to hurt the feelings of other Armenian editors, but I think you should take this into account that anything this person is doing in Wikipedia is directed against Azeris, whom he hates as a Nazi hated Jews. Hope you have a more clear picture now of what is going on. Thanks once again. --Tabib 11:34, Jun 9, 2005 (UTC)

Rje, thanks for your message in my talkpage. I am glad that my comments were helpful. Many pages that were Rovoam's "traditional" targets (such as Nagorno-Karabakh, Caucasian Albania, and Artsakh have been unprotected finally, and Rovoam immediately started to vandalize these entries along with some others. I hope you will watch these pages and will help me and other editors to neutralize Rovoam's vandalism and spurious edits. And please, remember, this is indeed an exceptional case, this person will not stop for quite some time and only our joint determination can make him retreat.--Tabib 14:39, Jun 10, 2005 (UTC)

Yay!

[edit]

Aww... Thankies for the note. I can't believe I had a typo on my user page, how embarassing! (Note: can you find my typo in the proceding sentence?) It makes me feel all happy and wanted and such. But, omg, am I seeing this right? Seven, count 'em, languages! Especially to a common American such as me who can only speak moderate Spanish, aside from English. Well anyway, special messages make me happy, so thanks. And, by the way, where did you see me? --Dmcdevit 19:59, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Innapropriate?

[edit]

Recently I (username: 7121989) recieved a message from yourslf concerning 'innapropriate' images applied to the female ejaculation webpage. The image used simply depicted female ejaclation it could not be any more appropriate. i fail to see your reasoning for your message that I may be banned, I believe that you edited without keeping in mind that wikipedia is an encyclopedia, stating facts and reality, best of all it avoids censorship.

I personally feel that you are letting loose morals and poor knowledge of the subject guide your decision on the suitability of the image. I accept the fact that the previous image was in breach of copyright; though I fear if another similar image were to be used your actions will be the same. You branded the material gratuitous, please take a look at the section on the penis images here depict the erect penis, is this not degrading, no. The context of the image is purely scientific and striving for education and not to offend. My intentions were to simply depict a growing concept into the female sexual response in a purely scientific format akin to what is represented by the images of the penis. Never did I intend this image to be interpreted in a pornographic fashion nor do I understand how it can be. As for your statement that children may often visit the material, I cannot understand how your argument can still stand if similar images already exist elsewhere on the encyclopaedia, an encyclopaedia which endeavours to provided thorough and educational material whatever the social stigma, only showing facts and the reality. The concept of the proposed image is within the boundaries of ‘taste’, though no taste can be applied to truth.

I struggle to understand the concept in what way vaginal 'juices' are sexual? it is merely a bioligical process of the lubrication, and contraction of intervaginal muscles. The image's intention is to illustrate this fact, and cannot be differed in any way to the biological imagery of the penis.

What the fuck am I supposed to do?

[edit]

The admin fuckholes refuse to pay any attention to my case, they call me names, they send me neo-Nazi emails.

I followed their fucking procedures. They don't fucking follow the fucking procedures.

Fuck them.

Kurita77

I followed their fucking procedures. Vulgar emails and insults were what came back. It's right there for you to read.
Not ONE of them treated me fairly or paid any attention to what was going on.
You tell me. What the hell am I supposed to do when they won't follow their own listed policies? When the response to a user writing the Admin in question is an email stating that he doesn't believe you and emails to the mailing list all state that they're not even going to bother taking you seriously following by emailing stating that they're not even going to listen?
This place is fucking stupid. They say "assume good faith" then they refuse to act in it. They tell users to "be bold" and then they fucking slap them around for engaging in good-faith discussions. Kurita77

Mprotection

[edit]

Hello, Rje. Thought I should point out that adding the {{Mprotected}} tag doesn't really protect an image. One still has to go through the regular protecting procedures. The tag is merely a categorization, imo, to make it easy to find the mprotected images the day after their appearance on the MainPage. -- 199.71.174.100 30 June 2005 01:12 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply, Rje. I hope vandals won't take advantage of the lack of protection of templates and images on the Main Page. -- 199.71.174.100 30 June 2005 18:25 (UTC)

Postpartum depression page

[edit]

Rje,

I am relatively new to Wikipedia. I am wondering why you reverted the 'postpartum depression' page, claiming '(rv copyvio addition)', which I assume means either remove or revert due to a copyright violation. Since I wrote the version that was removed/reverted, I know that it is not a copyright violation. Perhaps you thought that citing the research of Beck (2001) was a copyright violation? If so, it isn't. As you probably know, citing others' work is standard practice in academia. Everything else that was removed was written by me. Further, what I wrote reflects the current state of research on PPD. If there are any specific objections, I would be happy to answer them.

Best regards,
